Job Summary

The post holder’s main responsibilities are the management, care and accessibility of the Goldsmiths Textile Collection. Including supporting researchers, collections management and planning and delivery of student, staff and public exhibitions and events with a view to enhancing student experience.

Job Description

The post holder will be appointed on a 0.6FTE contract (21 hours a week), £38,647 – £41,780 pro rata (actual salary £23,188.20 – £25,068).

Main duties:

General management of the Goldsmiths Textile Collection and Constance Howard Gallery, including collections management and development, providing access, research support and outreach.

Collections documentation and cataloguing to Spectrum standards

Answering research and access enquiries and facilitating research appointments

Planning and executing the curatorial programming of the Constance Howard Gallery, including: o Planning and running events (e.g. group visits, internal curricular seminars, exhibition private views), and facilitating events run by students, Goldsmiths staff or external partners o Facilitating exhibitions curated by students or external partners, curating and delivering exhibitions where appropriate o Staffing exhibition private views which will include occasional evening working

Liaising with Goldsmiths academic colleagues and others to develop and facilitate workshops, student projects, and other activities

Representing and promoting GTC to interested parties within and outside of Goldsmiths, including staff, students, the wider research community and the public and local communities

Supporting development and fundraising activities for the GTC in collaboration with Goldsmiths Development Team

Staffing the Constance Howard Gallery as part of a rota, invigilating the gallery and library spaces and assisting researchers / visitors

Coordinating the annual Christine Risley Prize for Textiles

Co-ordinating and supervising staff, students on placements and volunteers involved with GTC project work

Promotion of GTC and CHG activities in conjunction with Library staff

Deputising for the Special Collections & Archives Manager in their absence

Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Special Collections & Archives Manager
