UK: London Tube strikes partially called off

After receiving an improved pay offer, RMT union members have called off plans for a Tube strike that was set to bring London to a standstill this week.

However underground train drivers with the Aslef union could still go ahead with planned strikes on 7 and 12 November, depending on the outcome of talks due to take place on Monday.

Italy: Nationwide public transport strikes

Public transport passengers in Italy may face delays and cancellations on 8 November as a 24-hour nationwide strike is planned.

Staff at bus, tram, commuter train, metro and ferry operators around the country plan to walk out over pay and working conditions, with varying impacts from city to city. Long-distance trains are not expected to be affected.

Trains will again be disrupted on 29-29 November as workers around the country walk out for 24 hours from 9pm. Both regional and long-distance rail services operated by Trenitalia and Italo could be affected.

Airport strikes in Naples and Rome

Air passengers in Italy will face disruption on 12 November as unionised air traffic controllers employed by ENAV strike from 1 to 5pm.

Walkouts are planned at Bologna Marconi (BLQ), Lampedusa (LMP), Naples International (NAP), Perugia (PEG) and Pescara (PSR) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO) but could have a knock-on effect on flights across the country.

Further delays are expected at Bologna, Catania and Rome where baggage handlers will also go on strike.

Baggage handlers at airports in Milan, meanwhile, are expected to strike on 29 November leading to possible delays on the ground. On the same day, WizzAir staff will walk out for 24 hours, potentially impacting flights across the country.

France: easyJet workers file indefinite strike notice

French staff at budget airline easyJet filed an indefinite strike notice which started in September and runs until 16 December. It is in protest over the company’s plan to close its Toulouse hub.
