A signal failure on the Northern line has plunged this key way for north and south Londoners to get around into chaos, severely delaying trains northbound only between Kennington and Camden Town via Bank.
Elsewhere, the Bakerloo line is seeing minor delays, TfL says, between Queen’s Park and Elephant & Castle southbound due to a signal failure.
A pile-up is forming on the M25 after a vehicle caught on fire, with major congestion expected to ease by 7.30am. This is mainly affecting the motorway anticlockwise between junctions 16 and 15, with one lane closed.
Northern line severely delayed
‘Northern line: Severe delays between Kennington and Camden Town via Bank, northbound only, while we fix a signalling system failure. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line.’
This is what TfL’s latest update on the Northern line is, which will likely make commuters heading up from south to central London roll their eyes given Bank is in the heart of the capital’s financial district and a major hub for riders to switch to other lines.
‘London Underground tickets are being accepted on London Buses,’ TfL adds.
