Despite reservations about the price, there’s a lot of buzz about Sony’s brand new and massively upgraded PS5 Pro console.

If you’re interested in purchasing the new console at launch, then PS5 Pro pre-orders will go live on September 26, exclusively on the PlayStation Direct website. The console will be available to pre-order from additional retailers on October 10, before launching in full on November 7.

Unfortunately, despite attempting to contact Sony on multiple fronts, the company is yet to officially announce exactly what time PS5 Pro pre-orders will go live. This means the PS5 Pro could go on sale as early as midnight local time.

However, based on previous timings for the original PS5 (back when there were major PS5 stock issues), customers can expect the PS5 Pro pre-orders page to go live at around 10am BST UK time.

Daily Express will update this article with all the latest announcements, but in the meantime, check the PlayStation Direct website for the latest information.

The PS5 Pro will launch with a £699 price tag, although PlayStation Direct could offer various bundles when pre-orders go live.

The standard PS5 Pro comes with a 2TB SSD, as well as one DualSense controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom built-in to the system.

The PS5 Pro is a disc-less console, which means you’ll have to purchase a disc drive separately, but only if you have a lot of games on disc, or use it to watch DVD/Blu-rays.

Pre-orders for Sony’s new 30th Anniversary Collection hardware and accessories will also go live on September 26, including an anniversary-themed PS5 Pro.

The limited edition PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary variant comes with a themed version of the console itself, complete with 2TB of storage, and matching accessories, including a DualSense wireless controller, a DualSense Edge wireless controller, a DualSense Charging Station and a Console Cover for the Disc Drive add on (although the disc drive will be sold separately).

It also ships with an anniversary themed Vertical Stand, as well as an original PlayStation controller-style cable connector housing four PlayStation Shapes cable ties. That’s on top of a PlayStation sticker, a Limited Edition PlayStation Poster and a PlayStation Paperclip… for some reason.

According to Sony, each PS5 Pro Anniversary Edition is individually numbered as a collector’s item. Only 12,300 of the Pro models will be available worldwide.

As for the console itself, the PS5 Pro aims to improve on the original PS5 in three main ways. Specifically with a bigger GPU, Advanced Ray-Tracing and AI-driven upscaling.

The GPU will provide rendering that’s up to 45% faster thanks to 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory. This should lead to a better balance between visuals and performance.

Advanced Ray Tracing will provide “more dynamic reflection and refraction of light”, which allows rays to be cast at double and sometimes even triple the speeds of the current PS5.

Then there’s the AI Driven Upscaling, which is said to use “machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail”.

Elsewhere, PS5 Pro Game Boost will give older PS4 and PS5 games an upgrade in the visual and performance department.

Games that will receive a boost include Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2 and Hogwarts Legacy.
