Angela Bennett, Joint Managing Director of Belfast based Diamond Systems, has been awarded the coveted title of “Woman of the Year” at the UK Women in Fire Safety Awards, held in London this month. This remarkable recognition adds to Angela’s already impressive accolades, including previous wins at the UK Women in Security Awards in 2020 and the Northern Ireland Institute of Directors (IoD) Awards, winning “Director of the Year” in both the “Family Business” and “SME” categories in 2019. Diamond Systems was a previous winner at the Business Eye Family Business Awards.

Angela, a dedicated business leader and mother of two, co-manages Diamond Systems, a family-run business specialising in fire and security solutions. She recently completed a part-time Master’s degree in Business Improvement from Ulster University, adding yet another achievement to her list.

Angela’s success at the Women in Fire Safety Awards marks a significant moment in her career. She has now “done the double,” having won top honours in both the fire safety and security sectors, reflecting both sides of the business offering of Diamond Systems.

The Women in Fire Safety Awards, known for its outstanding recognition of women in the industry, experienced a record-breaking year. According to event organisers Chloe Antoniuk and Kate Blake: “This year has been nothing short of legendary: A record-breaking number of nominations that blew us, and from feedback, the judges away. I’m immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished together in casting a well-deserved spotlight on the inspiring individuals in our industry.”

Upon accepting her award, Angela expressed heartfelt thanks to her family, crediting them for their unwavering support. She gave special recognition to her brother Stephen Snoddon, who has been in the fire and security industry for over 30 years, acknowledging his role in sharing invaluable expertise with her, and also recognised the Fire Industry Association (FIA) for their support with training initiatives and the strive towards competency within the industry.

Diamond Systems, the family business Angela co-runs, has become a trusted name in fire and security solutions across the UK and Ireland. Established over 30 years ago by Tom Snoddon, the company has continued to innovate and lead in the industry, providing tailored solutions across all sectors of the built environment.
