If you’re counting down the minutes until former PlayStation exclusive God of War Ragnarok makes its PC debut via Steam and the Epic Games Store, then we’ve got some bad news to share. While it’s true that God of War Ragnarok has a September 19 release date for PC, UK fans will have to wait a little longer in order to actually play the game. According to the Steam countdown clock, God of War Ragnarok has a 4pm BST UK launch time on PC gaming platforms. On the plus side, if you were planning on staying up until midnight to guide Kratos and Atreus in their latest adventure, then at least you can have an early night. Furthermore, to ensure you can start playing the moment God of War Ragnarok goes live, developer Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that pre-loading is available on PC.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Santa Monica Studio announced that pre-loading is now available to Ragnarok pre-order customers.

“If you ordered God Of War Ragnarok on PC, pre-loading is now available!” reads a Sony Santa Monica tweet.

“Begin downloading the game NOW and have it ready to play on September 19th!”

If the Steam listing is anything to go by, pre-loading the game sounds like a good idea. According to the minimum and recommended requirements, Steam suggests having 190GB of hard drive space available for God of War Ragnarok.

Based on the latest reports, the actual file size is around 175GB, which is pretty massive and could take a long time to install.

The PC port of God of War Ragnarok comes with a number of platform specific features, particularly in terms of visuals.

This includes unlocked frame-rates, not to mention the option of “true 4K resolution”.

That’s on top of enhanced reflections, improved lighting, higher fidelity shadows, and increased geometric detail.

Elsewhere, Sony has confirmed that the PC port features upscaling technology with NVIDIA RTX Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 3.7, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1, and Intel XeSS 1.2.

That’s on top of super ultrawide support if you have a compatible monitor, as well as custom controls and lots more.
