The Mandarin Oriental, in Bangkok, Thailand has been named one of the world’s best.

With a river running through it, the hotel maximises its surroundings and creates a one-of-a-kind experience for guests.

It is positioned on the banks of the Chao Phraya river which is a famous part of the area. Over the years, royalty and Hollywood actors have visited the river.

When you enter the hotel lobby, you’ll be met by large elegant chandeliers, flowers from local markets and a grand waiting area for guests.

The hotel has a luxury feel and it also has Michelin-star restaurants, including a range of cuisines such as French and dim sum.

With a wide range of features, you won’t be bored while staying here. The hotel has two pools, a spa and a tropical garden which are based on both sides of the river.

In homage to traditional Thai culture, rooms are decorated with teak floorboards and Thai artwork.

From the terrace, you’ll be able to watch boats float by on the river while soaking up the beautiful scenery of the surrounding area.

The iconic hotel reopened the river wing following a large renovation – the hotel is 148 years old so underwent a transformation to restore its grandeur.

One guest on Booking.com who stayed at the hotel said: “I had a wonderful holiday at this hotel. We had a deluxe premier room and it was very spacious, very clean, and had a large bathroom.

“I appreciated the treats we received when we entered the room, fruit, sweets, and a personalised hand-written note. We were truly taken care of.”

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand and has been named as one of the hottest cities in the world. It is home to one of the world’s largest China towns and is the most visited city in the world.
