Flying is a bit of a faff. From queuing at security to turbulence, there’s not much about it that’s enjoyable, so you may as well do what you can to make it as painless as possible.

One such step you can take is to ensure you’re flying on a high quality airline. Us Brits have been unlucky in this respect because, until recently, Singapore Airlines (SA), which won best in the world several years in a row at the World Airline Awards, only flew from two UK airports. This, however, has now changed, with the first SA flights launching from Gatwick to Singapore earlier this year.

And there’s more where they came from. The carrier have just announced that from March 2025 the current five flights a week will be upgraded to seven, making it a daily service. This is on top of the journeys they already operate between the country and Heathrow/Manchester, meaning you can hop across the globe from somewhere convenient to you.

A representative for the company said this increase in capacity is in response to high demand from customers: ‘These adjustments cater to the higher demand to several destinations… We look forward to connecting our customers to the world with SIA’s extensive network, and delivering an unparalleled travel experience.’

Singapore acts as a gateway from the west to the entirety of southeast Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand, so you’ve got plenty of options when planning where to head on your next adventure. You can book your flights from Singapore Airlines direct here.

Loads of other airports and airlines are launching new flights at the moment. Leeds-Bradford is getting its first ever long-haul flights and a bunch of new routes running from Birmingham. There’s also been new affordable flights from Edinburgh to New York and the return of direct flights from the UK to this beautiful Caribbean island, and we’ve kept you updated on the Easyjet cancellations.

Did you see that this tiny forgotten English town is getting a massive £500 million glow-up?
