Renault challenges the Tesla Model Y in the United Kingdom. Renault’s champion against the battle with Tesla is its all-electric Scenic E-Tech SUV.

On a billboard outside London, Renault openly challenged the Tesla Model Y with an advertisement saying: “New Renault Scenic E-Tech puts Tesla Model Y to shame in both price and range.”

Renault’s antics don’t end there. According to French Automobile Propre, the company’s billboard ad changes when a Tesla vehicle passes by it. The billboard has a display panel that can detect when a Tesla is near.

The message on the ad changes when a Tesla is close by, replaced with mocking phrases like “You’re probably good at other things” and “What makes Tesla owners feel guilty?” The big clincher is that the billboard is located near an electric vehicle (EV) charging station, where many Teslas gather.

The ad has garnered a lot of attention, but customers will ultimately decide if it speaks the truth. The Renault Scenic E-Tech starts at £37,495 and can cost up to £45,495. The base Renault Scenic E-Tech has a 60 kWh battery with an estimated range of up to 260 miles based on Europe’s WLTP standard.

The Tesla Model Y starts at £44,990 with the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) variant. According to WLTP standards, the RWD delivers up to 283 miles of range. Tesla offers the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Performance AWD variants at £52,990 and £59,990, respectively.
