EA Sports FC 24 held the top spot on the UK software chart in July, while PS5 was again the best-selling console.

Boosted by the Euro 2024 tournament, sales of EA’s football game were 46% higher than FIFA 23 sales were in July 2023.

That’s according to GSD data published by GamesIndustry.biz, which tracks all physical sales plus digital sales from most major publishers, excluding Nintendo and 505 Games.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was also a non-mover at No.2 on the software chart, while Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy and Red Dead Redemption 2 rounded off the top five.

Following the release of its latest expansion, Dawntrail, at the beginning of the month, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn charted at No.6 in July.

Last month’s highest new entry was EA Sports College Football 25, which came in at No.7.

Total sales of PC and console games last month dropped 2.9% compared to July 2023.

On the hardware front, monthly console sales fell 30% year-over-year, according to GfK data.

PS5 held its position as the best-selling console, while Nintendo Switch leapfrogged Xbox Series X/S into second place.

Sony’s console hit the four million sales milestone in the UK last month, a feat which was achieved 31 weeks slower than PS4 managed. In the process, PS5 became the UK’s fifth fastest-selling console to date.

In terms of revenue, PlayStation Portal was the top-selling accessory last month, followed by the white DualSense controller for PS5.
