ONE of the best airlines in the world has revealed plans for more flights from the UK.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) was frequently named the world’s best airline, although lost the accolade earlier this year to Qatar Airways.

Despite this, the airline – stilled named the best in Asia as well as having the world’s best first class – launched a number of flights from the UK earlier this year.

This included London Gatwick to Singapore, with five flights a week that started back in June.

From March 2025, this is to increase to seven flights a week, becoming a daily service.

This means there will be five flights a day from London to Singapore, with four daily services already in operation from London Heathrow.

While flights between Manchester and Singapore will remain in place, it will suspend it’s flights from Singapore to Houston, which included a stop in Manchester, from April 2025.

Currently in operation are five flights a week from Manchester ti Singapore.

Market planning acting senior vice president Dai Haoyu said the changes were to to demand of the services.

They added: “These adjustments, ahead of next summer, cater to the higher demand to several destinations, particularly during the traditional mid-year peak travel season, enabling our customers to confidently make their 2025 travel plans. 

“We look forward to connecting our customers to the world with SIA’s extensive network, and delivering an unparalleled travel experience.”

Other flights being added by the airline across Europe include more between Singapore and Barcelona as well as Milan and Singapore.

Flights to Adelaide in Australia, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and Siem Reap in Cambodia will also see more frequency in flights.

Singapore Airlines aren’t the only airline launching new flights from the UK.

Norwegian launched new flights to Gothenburg in Sweden from the UK with four weekly routes.

Other new routes include easyJet‘s Gatwick to Skiathos and Salerno, as well as Wizz Air’s new London Gatwick-Varna routes .

New long haul routes include Air India’s new London Gatwick to Bengaluru route as well as WestJet’s new Gatwick flights to both Halifax and St John’s in Canada.

Yet a number of flights are being scrapped too.

Last month is was announced that Virgin Atlantic is to scrap flights from London Heathrow to Shanghai from October, 25 years after launching the route.

Airlines with the best plane food

Korean Air

Korean Air won best airline cuisine in last year’s Global Traveler’s awards.

Some of their popular dishes onboard include bibimbap, a Korean rice dish, and ssambap, Korean rice lettuce rolls.

It also made the top 10 for airlines with the best plane food in CN Travelers 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards.

Japan Airlines

Coming in first place in the Reader’s Choice Awards was Japan Airlines.

The airline has partnered with six Michelin-star chefs, each of whom have three stars – so you can expect it to be good.

Passengers can choose bento boxes and miso soups onboard.

Singapore Airlines

Often voted one of the best airlines in the world, it is no surprising Singapore Airlines is said to have some of the best plane food.

Chef Dennis Littley said: “Their gourmet meals rival those of ground-based restaurants.”

Dishes include congee, a rice porridge, as well as Singaporean rice and curry options.

This was followed by British Airways scrapping it’s London to Beijing route, also in October, as well as it’s Belgrade route less than a year after launching.
