Leeds-headquartered delivery giant, Evri, has confirmed it will hire 9,000 new staff in the UK following its multi-billion pound takeover.
The business aims to employ 8,000 more couriers, along with around 1,000 warehouse and other supporting roles.
Its recruitment drive follows private equity firm Apollo Global Management acquiring Evri for £2.7bn last week.
Apollo defeated competition from rivals including Chinese retailer JD.com and DHL to buy the company from fellow private equity firm Advent International.
Evri, which was known as Hermes until a rebrand in 2022, said the number of parcels being delivered is now higher than during the surge in home deliveries during the pandemic.
It said the additional staff, which will increase its workforce of self-employed couriers to around 28,000, will help it deliver as many as four million parcels daily.
Evri chief executive, Martijn De Lange, said: “New client wins and increased parcel volumes are proof of the trust customers have in our service and our biggest-ever recruitment drive promises to deliver another record year.”
