THE University of Aberdeen has been ranked 2nd in Scotland for overall student satisfaction and 15th in the UK for positive responses, in the National Student Survey (NSS).

Measuring student feedback across a broad range of areas related to their learning experience and support, the 2024 survey released today (Wednesday, 10 July) has seen both Aberdeen’s overall student satisfaction and average positivity scores continue to climb, rising to 85% and 84% respectively.

Out of 122 higher education institutions, the NSS places the University in the UK top 10 for teaching, academic support, learning resources and organisation.

At a subject level, the University of Aberdeen is 1st in the UK for Earth Sciences, History of Art, Architecture and Design, Human Geography and Linguistics.

It has also been ranked 1st in Scotland across a total of 20 subjects, including Anthropology, Biotechnology, Business Studies, Human Geography, Management Studies, Microbiology and Cell Science, Music, Physical Geographical Sciences, Teacher Training; and Theology and Religious Studies.

Welcoming the results, Vice-Principal (Education) Jo-Anne Murray said: “The continued rise in student satisfaction and positive responses reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence in our education. Our students are at the heart of everything we do.

“This is another strong performance in a national survey and colleagues across the University can be justifiably proud of the gold standard experience being delivered to our students.”

It comes weeks after the University was named in the top 10 universities in the UK and top 50 in the world in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. Aberdeen also rose to its highest ever position in the most recent Guardian University Guide and has been placed in the top 20 in the UK in the Times/Sunday Times ranking for the past three years.
