Railway Ball patrons are calling on UK rail companies to help The Railway Ball achieve its ambitious £500,000 fundraising target for Railway Children. With over 1,000 guests already confirmed, the event is on the brink of success but still needs crucial support. So, Ball Patrons are urging businesses to step up and be part of this life-changing cause.

Open letter to the rail community

In an open letter, Patrons from across the rail sector—including Darren Caplan (Railway Industry Association), Lisa Coleman (Worldline), Andrew Haines and Peter, Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill (Network Rail), Alex Hynes (Department of Transport), Andy Lord (Transport for London) and Dyan Perry OBE —are urging industry colleagues to support this year’s Railway Ball on Friday, 29th November 2024, in London. Their letter underscores Railway Children’s transformative impact, having improved the lives of over 250,000 children facing abuse and poverty, including over 14,000 in the past year alone.

Railway Ball Chair and Great Western Railway CEO Mark Hopwood CBE said: “We have an ambitious target to fund Railway Children’s work safeguarding vulnerable children. We are grateful to our Gold Sponsor, Worldline; Silver Sponsor, Colas Rail; Bronze Sponsor, Transport UK; and event partner, the Railway Industry Association, for their generous contributions, as well as the 70+ companies that have booked tables. We now want to encourage other businesses to follow their lead and support this vital cause.”
