Action hero and British actor Idris Elba is seeking greener pastures with his new business venture, as he looks to launch his own gardening firm.

The Luther star, who has a net worth of £40million, is in the process of developing a gardening business that will trade under the name of Growing Media.

Newly-filed documents seen by MailOnline reveal Elba, 51, is launching his own range of fertilisers, with products including peat moss, bark, rice hulls and wood fibres.

It comes as the actor has just returned from a stint in Ibiza, where he has been DJing for stars including models Amy Jackson and Leomie Anderson.

Idris Elba is known for being a jack of all trades, taking on lead acting roles in BBC‘s Luther and HBO‘s The Wire, while also DJing under the moniker ‘Big Driis’, producing rap music and dabbling in kickboxing.

Now, he is adding another feather to his cap with Growing Media, joining the likes of Alan Titchmarsh and Charlie Dimmock.

Elba’s acting career began in the early 1990s, when he appeared in a BBC children’s drama called The Boot Street Band and then landed a significant role on a series called Bramwell.

In 2002, he landed a starring role in HBO’s The Wire, portraying Russell “Stringer” Bell who is second-in-command to a drug kingpin.

Elba is probably best known for his starring role in the six-part BBC TV series Luther which aired in 2010.

In 2013, Elba was named Essence’s Sexiest Man of the Year and, in 2018, he was named as People’s Sexiest Man Alive.

In 2024, Elba quashed rumours that he would be stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes at the next James Bond after fans wanted him to take on the role next.

Elba was recently nominated for Outstanding Actor In A Drama Series for his role in the Apple TV+ thriller series Hijack at the 55th annual NAACP Image Awards in March.

He had some stiff competition in this category that also featured Forest Whitaker (Godfather Of Harlem), Jabari Banks (Bel-Air), Jesse L. Martin (The Irrational) and Damson Idris (Snowfall) — with Damson scoring the win.
