Bet of the Day

Saint-Etienne v Rodez – Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11

Saint-Etienne are one of the most successful sides in French football history – only Paris Saint-Germain have lifted the top flight on more occasions (12) than Les Verts’ ten titles – and the fallen giants could still yet return to the top flight should they be victorious in the play-offs.

The first hurdle facing them is Rodez, who drew 1-1 with Saint-Etienne two weeks ago – handing the automatic promotion advantage to Angers – and another tense, low-scoring encounter could be in store.

The hosts have the league’s strongest defence with just 31 goals conceded. Rodez, meanwhile, who possess the second-best attack in the division with 62 goals scored, have seen no more than two goals scored in each of their previous three visits to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Special of the day

Genoa v Bologna – Bologna to win to nil @ 9/4

Bologna will play European football for the first time since the 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup next season. Their memorable campaign has seen them finish in the top five, earning a Champions League spot, and Thiago Motta’s men could put extra gloss on a wonderful season with victory in their final game away to Genoa.

The hosts will be happy with their first season back in Serie A – the Griffin are certain to finish no lower than 12th – while Genoa were also beaten to nil in their last league fixture by Roma.

With little riding on this encounter, Bologna could comfortably run away with the honours at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and recent form points to another shutout victory for the Greyhounds. Bologna have kept clean sheets in four of their last five away matches and could improve that record on Friday.

Longshot of the day

Bodo/Glimt v KFUM – KFUM or draw double chance @ 14/5

Bodo/Glimt lead the Eliteserien by a single point from Brann, but they could struggle to extend their lead at the top when they face Norwegian top-flight newcomers KFUM.

Den Gule Horde lost their first match of the Eliteserien campaign at HamKam last time out, while they were also beaten 4-2 by Lillestrom in the NM Cup recently.

This could open the door for Kaffa, who have lost only one of their last nine games in all competitions and avoided defeat in each of their last eight on the road, including each of their last three matches. Therefore, KFUM look a tempting prospect to come away from Bodo with at least a point.
