This Morning star Ross King has paid tribute to Sam Rubin following his shock death at the age of 64.

The entertainment reporter had been a part of the ITV1 magazine show for a number of years when he died of a heart attack on Friday and fellow showbiz guru Ross, 62, struggled to keep it together as he paid tribute to his friend on Monday’s show.

He said: ‘I still can’t [believe it]. I get lost for words at times. He was just a lovely man…’

This is what seems strange and I was thinking about this on the way into the studio here in New York – Sam would have loved this.

‘I hope Sammy, you’re looking down and seeing how much love there is for you, because it’s remarkable. Sam loved being Sam and he loved being on camera – and he was loved.

‘I just hope he can see it. I hope he can see the love that he’s got from the industry.

‘That people are talking about him so much that it’s making such big news, and the outpouring of grief from people within the industry and the stars that loved him as well. Sammy would have loved this.’

Ross also shared some tributes that had come in from Hollywood stars who had known Sam over the years, including the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Ryan Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon.

He added: ‘It’s an incredible legacy… I’m going to miss him so much. I have spoken to a couple of his colleagues there at KTLA and it’s a devastating loss. He will be remembered so well, so fondly and all the accolades that are coming out now are so well deserved.’

Rubin began working at KTLA in 1991 and became a regular on red carpets and on the station’s morning show, often doing live interviews with stars who stopped by to promote their latest projects.

His last interview was with Jane Seymour, 73, who was promoting season three of her Acorn show Harry Wilde.

After learning of the reporter’s passing Seymour penned, ‘It’s hard to believe that just yesterday I was with [Sam Rubin]. I’m deeply saddened by the news of his passing.’

Ryan Reynolds spoke of Rubin’s kindness and professionalism.

‘Even if I was on my 85th interview that day, I was always happy to see Sam. Even in HE was on his 85th interview that day, he always brought genuine kindness, curiosity and an outside the box question,’ the Deadpool actor said.

Selma Blair recalled, ‘You were my first on air interview, and one of my last. I feel so fortunate to have watched you and known you for so many years.’

‘Oh Sam! This is a sad moment, to know you are not here on this Earth. Your memory will be a blessing. Another beloved favorite! Thank you for your humanity.’
