Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, the adoption of digital gaming media has ballooned, with no signs of things going back to the way they were. Case in point, 75% of all games sold in the UK last month were digital – a 10% increase year-on-year.

As reported by Christopher Dring via Gamesindustry.biz, the GSD released their latest stats on the UK video games market. In August, a total of 1.74 million games were sold, with a whopping 75% of the sales being digital.

According to Dring, this marks a 10% increase in digital adoption compared to the same time last year. For context, back in 2014, just 27% of all PlayStation games sold (globally) were digital compared to 73% physical.

With UK game retailers seemingly on their last legs, it is perhaps unsurprising to see digital adoption only continue to rise with each passing month.

KitGuru says: What do you think of the shift to digital? Do you care about physical game media? Will the PS6 be digital-only? Let us know down below.
